In 1939, EDGE began providing investment management services including one of the first 50 mutual funds in the U.S. This mutual fund was called the Composite Bond Fund, which was the initial predecessor to what is now known as the Principal Equity Income Fund. Over the years, EDGE expanded its investment capabilities to include equity, fixed income and asset allocation strategies.
In the beginning, EDGE was originally called Bond Research Corporation and was one of the first registered investment advisers in the Northwest. The company’s name changed over the years as a result of acquisitions to eventually become Edge Asset Management, Inc. in December 2006.

1968 – Company registered with the SEC
1996 – Asset allocation strategies are registered1, eventually becoming known as the Strategic Asset Management Portfolios
1998 – Name was changed to WM Advisors, Inc.
2006 – Principal Financial Group acquired WM Advisors and rebranded as Edge Asset Management, Inc.
Today – EDGE manages over $29.3 billion in assets under management across equity, fixed income and asset allocation strategies
